Conduct high level examination and inspection of completed works —Chief Minister

C.M. directs officers to complete construction of flyovers  in Varanasi by December

The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Ms. Mayawati has asked the Divisional Commissioners and DMs to review infrastructure and development related projects of the cities every week.  She said that the Divisional Commissioners and DMs cannot escape their responsibility simply by saying that the department did not inform them about the projects in time. She directed that the works which had been stated as completed be verified and their high level technical examination and inspection should be carried out. If, their quality was not found to be upto the mark, action should be taken against officers responsible for it, she said.

Taking serious view of the poor quality of roads constructed in Varanasi Town, the Chief Minister directed the officers to take strict action against erring officers. She asked the officers to provide basic facilities such as roads, electricity and water at the pucca houses being built by DUDA for the poor at their hutments in Allahabad, Faizabad and Ayodhya. She said that difficulties coming in the implementation of the projects should be solved through inter-departmental co-ordination, so that these projects could be completed in time.

The C.M. gave these directives when the Chairman of the U.P. State Advisory Council, Mr. Satish Chandra Mishra apprised her of the outcome of a high level meeting held here today to review the progress of various projects being carried out in Allahabad, Faizabad and Ayodhya. The feedback given by the high-level team led by the Principal Secretary Mr. R.P. Singh was also considered at the meeting.

Expressing dissatisfaction over the slow progress of the flyover being constructed in Pandeypur and Chaukaghat projects in Varanasi, the C.M. directed that the same should be completed by December next at all costs.  She said that alternative arrangements for diversion of traffic should be made before the implementation of these projects, so that the people did not have to face any difficulty.

Directing the officers to complete the development works being carried out in Ayodhya at the earliest, the CM said that alternative arrangements should be made for the sewer finding way into Ram Ki Pairi and the construction of STP in Faizabad and Ayodhya should be accelerated. She said that the projects related with drinking water supply, sewer lines and widening and lighting of roads in Faizabad and Ayodhya should be completed in this financial year. She directed the officers to complete the Ayodhya Parikrama Marg and widen the Ayodhya-Faizabad Panchkosi Marg and their street lighting by the next month. She directed that the Tourism Department should set up Shilp Gram in Ayodhya.

Expressing satisfaction over the power supply being made to the Government hospitals and the projects being implemented by the Energy Department in Faizabad and Ayodhya, the CM said that the Power Department should take steps to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the Government Departments in Faizabad.

The CM said that the 32 development projects being implemented in Allahabad would make life easy for the people of Allahabad city and district. Directing the officers to accelerate the pace of construction of bridges being constructed over rivers of the district, she said that necessary steps should be taken for increasing the working capacity of State Bridge Corporation. Expressing her satisfaction over the completion of some projects related with power supply of the Allahabad city and also improvement in the city’s power supply, she said that remaining projects be completed at the earliest. She directed that the work related with Solid Waste Management be started at the earliest and the laying of 242 k.m. long sewer lines accelerated.
