Teachers as Khadimul Hujjaj Applications to be submitted by Feb. 28
Application Format also Available On Haj Committee Website
The Chairman of UP State Haj Committee and Minorities Welfare Minister, Mohammad Azam Khan, informed today that a decision had been taken to send Khadimul Hujjaj this time with the Haj pilgrims of the state during the Haj-2013 to Saudi Arabia. He said that the Centre had accepted to some extent his demand for sending also the teachers of government recognised/aided madarsas of the state in addition to the state employess as Khadimul Hujjaj. Hence, the decision has been taken.
It may be recalled that no Khadimul Hujjaj from UP were sent to Saudi Arabia during the Haj-2012 season. The reason behind it was non-acceptance of demand of the Haj and Minorities Welfare Minister Mohammad Azam Khan put before the Centre for sending only teachers of madarsas in place of state employees as Khadimul Hujjaj. Mr. Khan is of the view that such state employees, who are not competent enough to handle the job of Khadimul Hujjaj, get themselves selected through their higher connections and approaches. On reaching Saudi Arabia, these employees in the capacity of Khadimul Hujjaj take least care of haj pilgrims. This type of shirking the duty attitude of theirs causes a lot of problems before haj pilgrims who keep complaining about it oft and on. That is why he is not in favour of sending state emoloyees as Khadimul Hujjaj.
Mr. Azam Khan said since now madarsa teachers had also been allowed for this purpose, preference would be given in selection of Khadimul Hujjaj to those of these teachers who fulfilled all the prescribed requirements in this regard. He said that for this purpose only those male madarsa teachers/state employees would be eligible who are not less than 25 years and more than 50 years of age on July 01, 2013. He said that the total expenses to be incurred on these Khadimul Hujjaj would be borne by the state haj committee/government.
The Minister has advised the interested persons to submit their application on the prescribed pro forma latest by February 28 next in the office of the state haj committee. He said that the haj committee has been asked to immediately furnish the circular issued in this regard along with the guidelines and the prescribed pro forma of application to all divisional commissioners, district magistrates, heads of departments and district minorities welfare officers. These materials can also be downloaded from the state haj committee’s website ‘www.uphajcommittee.com’.
