• The use of small cylinders totally banned in the Mela.
• Officials and employees of gas companies, police, fire department, electric board; Sector magistrate & supervisor will make a sector wise team in the Mela area starting today to keenly inspect and to create awareness about the preventions related to fire accidents, proper utilization of gas cylinders and to make them according to the regulated standards. In case of any faults, written complaints can be given to the team and the team can be asked to rectify the problem. Copy of complaints should be kept.
• In case of any defected pipes and regulators, they will be exchanged at place on the payment of Rs.170/- & Rs.250/-
• More than 6 cylinders should not be kept together at a time.
• All the residents of Kalpa are requested to keep 2 sacks full of sand and 2 buckets full of water.
• Strict checking of vehicles running on gas; police to check for small cylinders on barriers.
The saints, Gurus, Kalpavasis and pilgrims residing at the Kumbh Mela are using gas cylinders and electronic items. If not used properly, these devices can become the cause of accidents.
Commissioner Mr. Devesh Chaturvedi convened a meeting in the office of Meladhikari with the officials of gas distribution companies, sector magistrates, fire control police and other departments on the prevention of accidents related to fire. He said that the officials and employees of gas companies, police, fire department, electric board, Sector magistrate & supervisor will make a sector wise team in the Mela area starting today to keenly inspect and to create awareness about the preventions of fire accidents. The use of synthetic clothes is totally prohibited in the Mela area. The gas distribution companies were ordered to diligently check and weigh the cylinders before delivery and to accept written receipts. All sectors in charge were directed to inspect the cylinders during the invigilation in their respective sectors and not to allow storage of more than 6 cylinders at a time. The entry and exit of big tents and the wire connections should be checked for safety. Besides, the residents should be told that the high energy consuming devices like heaters should not be connected at CFL or bulb points.
During this meeting advise of gas companies, to use of small cylinders totally banned in the Mela and LPG motor vehicle prohibited in mela area. He ordered the Jal Nigam to arrange water for the fire extinguishers and Electricity Board to mark the vulnerable spots. The Health Department was directed to make arrangements for the spray of medicines and hygiene. In case of any emergency, only administrative route should be taken.
