UP Chess Sports Association an affiliate of all India Chess Federation is organising seventh UP State Chess Championship from to day at Lucknow at capital Centre Hazratganj.
Top Four players from the tournament will be selected on merit basis to represent UP State in forthcoming national to be organised by Andhra Pradesh Chess Association at Tirupathi from 18th May to 28 May 2012. The second rounded players of UP and top seeded in the tournament Mr. Shailendra Bajpai of Ghaziabad. Second seeded Deepal Katiyar, Lucknow, Third seeded A.P. Joshua of Allahabad four seeded Mohd. Irshad of Meerut, fifth seeded Gajendra Singh of Mainpuri (all have International Rating) along with 35 rated and 40 players of various groups totaling 80 players are participating in the prestigious tournament of the UP State.
Cash prizes worth Rs. 25,000/- will be awarded to the winners. Top four players will get the entry fee, railway fare and daily allowance for National championship will be provided by the Association.
Apart from main group there are prizes for women, U-15 & U-7 boys &, Girls. The chief Arbiter will be Mr. A.K. Raizada (National Arbiter) and Mr. Hemesh Saxena will be deputy chief arbiter.
