Shri Rahul Gandhi, on Monday, got a tumultuous welcome during his road show in Kanpur. Shri Gandhi travelled in a bus through the city and its outskirts and appealed to the people to vote for the Congress.   The road show witnessed heavy crowds on the roads and as soon as the convoy reached Ramadevi crossing and the Om Ka Purwa crossing, an old woman rushed in and garlanded Shri Gandhi.

Women and children had climbed on to the rooftops and balconies to catch a glimpse of Shri Gandhi who waved out to them to acknowledge their greetings. At the Hallett hospital crossing as soon as the people learnt of Shri Gandhi’s arrival, they spilled out on the roads to greet him.   The road show travelled from the Phoolbagh crossing to J K Temple and Sarvodaya Nagar where the entire area was draped with Congress flags and huge crowds waited to greet their leader.

In the crowds, the youth, women and children seemed particularly eager to meet Shri Gandhi and expressed their joy by showering flowers on him. Youth Congress activists played dhol and shouted slogans like ‘Rahul Gandhi aaye hai, Nayi roshani laye hain’ to create new atmosphere in favour of the Congress.

In the residential areas and mutli-storeyed apartments, people waved out to Shri Gandhi who waved back at them   The road show that included a large number of youth wound its way through Fazalganj, Shastri Nagar, Govind Nagar, Kidwai Nagar, Labour Colony, and Baqarganj.
