Inauguration of International Science Olympiad ‘Quanta-2011′ today

Warm welcome accorded to young scientists of Germany, Bulgaria, Russia, Lebanon, Finland, Canada, Jordan and various parts of India

teams-of-quantaStudents teams from India and abroad continue to arrive at Lucknow to participate in the 4-day International Science Festival ‘Quanta-2011′ being organized by City Montessori School, Chowk campus. This International Science Festival will be starting tomorrow on 19 November at 10.00 am at CMS Kanpur Road auditorium. This information has come from Mr Hari Om Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer of CMS. Mr Sharma informed that today the students’ teams of Germany, Bulgaria, Russia, Lebanon, Finland, Canada, Jordan and various parts of India have arrived at Lucknow who were given a warm reception with flower garlands. The young scientists seemed very happy and enthusiastic on reaching Lucknow and were very impressed by the welcome they received. Students’ teams from foreign countries which arrived today include Heidehof Stiftung, Germany; Lyceum Artis, Bulgaria; Salavic-Anglo-Amrican School, Russia; Cedas Cultural School, Lebanon; Tapiola High School, Finland; King Hossein Jubilee School, Jordan etc.
Mr Sharma informed that the young scientists were overwhelmed by the reception given to them and while talking informally they said that although we have come here to compete but we will also exchange our ideas on culture, tradition and views on a global level. When we return to our country, we would wish to spread the message of Indian culture, tradition and the feeling of ‘Vasudhaiv Kutumbkam’ thoughout the world. Mr Sharma further informed that today several teams of students from different parts of India viz. Nirmar Cambridge School, Madhya Pradesh; DAV Public School, Rajasthan; S. R. Public Senior Secondary School, Rajasthan; St. Thomas College, Uttarakhand; St. Jude’s School, Uttarakhand; Campion School, Bhopal; St. Xavier’s School, Jharkhand; St. Marks Sr. Public School, New Delhi and Bal Bharti Public School, New Delhi etc. have arrived. These participating teams were also given traditional Indian welcome when they reached Lucknow.
Mr Sharma said that ‘Quanta-2011′, a 4-day International Science Olympiad has been organized by City Montessori School, Chowk campus from 19 to 22 November 2011 at CMS Kanpur Road auditorium in which over 500 students and renowned scientists from 21 countries are participating. Mr Sharma said that ‘Quanta-2011′ will have a grand opening tomorrow on 19 November at 10.00 am at CMS Kanpur Road auditorium. On this occasion, Mr D. S. Mishra, IAS, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister of UP, will be the Chief Guest while CMS students will present colourful educational-cultural programmes in honour of young scientists of India and abroad. During the four days of contests at Quanta-2011, young scientists from 21 countries will exhibit their outstanding talents and skills in Debate, Insight (sculpting from computer junk), Acta-Mathematica (Mathematics Quiz), Aqua Challenge (A water craft race), Mental Ability Test and Science and Astronomy Quiz etc.
