International Convention on Students’ Quality Control Circles at CMS from November 30

pc_qc-1A four-day International Convention on Students’ Quality Control Circles (ICSQCC-2011) is being organized by City Montessori School, Kanpur Road at the campus auditorium from 30 November to 3 December. This historic International Convention will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Sabaragamuwa Province of Sri Lanka, Hon’ble Mr Mahiepala Herath and his wife Mrs Ajantha Herath will be the Guest of Honour on the occasion. This information was given by the Convener of ICSQCC-2011 and Principal of CMS Kanpur Road campus Dr (Mrs) Vineeta Kamran at a press conference held here today. Dr Kamran informed that world renowned quality experts and students from 12 countries of the world viz Bangladesh, Cyprus, Mauritius, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Turkey, UK, USA, and India will be registering their presence and participation in this august event. In this international convention, experts from various countries will be enlightening the audience with their thoughts and ideas. They will give an insight into the world of Quality Circles especially in relation to students. Besides this, students of various countries will participate in the exciting contests during the Quality Summit and spread the message of ‘Quality Concept in Education’ throughout the world.
Addressing the press reporters, Dr Kamran said that arrival of the various renowned personalities from India and abroad for this historic convention itself speaks of its significance and value. Dr Kamran further said that the present age is the age of quality and for this, we must all endeavour to prepare students to become quality person who can successfully face the challenges of the 21st century. Dr Kamran said that for a total quality persons, it is necessary to unite quality with education and for this we must impart three kinds of education - material, human and divine. The child’s thinking must be made global and he must be instilled with the desire to serve humanity and achieve a high degree of excellence in his work. Dr Kamran expressed her concern over the deteriorating standards of education in the world today. At this juncture, it is of utmost importance in schools to adopt the concept of Students’ Quality Circles. We must instil, in students, not only textual knowledge but also give their global understanding  and the need to serve the world in a positive way.
Dr Kamran explained that the forthcoming 14th International QC Convention is being organized from November 30 to December 3, under the aegis of QCI International, USA, QC Forum of India and World Council for Total Quality and Excellence in Education. She said that there will be several renowned Quality experts who will address the participants at the Quality Meet. Some of the main dignitaries are Dr. Syed Ali, Asst. Group Supervisor, John Hopkins University, USA, Mr. Jeff Dewar, President, Quality Digest, USA, Mr. David Hutchins, Chairman, DHI International, U.K., Mr. A. M. M. Khairul Bashar, Vice President, Bangladesh Society of TQM, Dhaka, Bangladesh, Prof. Dinesh Chapagain, Chairman, QUEST, Nepal, Dr. Hayal Koksal, President, Turkish Centre for Schools of Quality, Turkey, Mr. Andre Lim, CEO, Quality System Training, Singapore and Mr. Madhukar Narrain, Chairman, MSQCC, Mauritius etc.. Dr Kamran said that besides this, several students teams will present their case studies and participate in quality quiz, collage, debate, poster and slogan, skits and their heart warming events and contests.
Renowned educationist and Founder of CMS, Dr Jagdish Gandhi said that the quality circle concept has been widely acclaimed and become rapidly popular amongst the students of various schools because it leads to excellence in all fields of knowledge and emotional development of students. It also develops qualities like discipline, character development, mutual cooperation, brotherhood and resourcefulness in students. It inspires students to serve others selflessly and curbs the animal instinct in people which makes them exploit others once they have reached the top position. Dr Gandhi heartily praised and congratulated Dr Kamran for her wonderful initiative of organizing the 14th ICSQCC and adding a new dimension to the field of education.
The Chief Public Relations Officer of CMS, Mr Hari Om Sharma said that City Montessori School is the first institution in the world to adopt Students’ Quality Control Circle. At present, the concept has achieved world wide recognition and as a result it is giving a new direction to mankind. Mr Sharma further informed that in Dr Kamran’s successful leadership, this concept has been propagated by CMS students and teachers to over 27 countries of the world and in this 14th International Convention, as many as 134 students’ teams from various countries will be represented.
