— General opinion of educationists of various countries

inauguration-of-global-tieEducation today is not limited to the four walls of the classroom nor the books. A person gets educated every moment of his life and it is this education which gives one real strength to face the challenges of life. If we want humanity to progress in the real sense, we must make efforts to spread education based upon human values in every village, every city and every nation. There views were expressed by renowned educationists who arrived here from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Nepal, Sri Lanka and various states of India to participate in the four-day International Educational Festival ‘Global TIE-2011′ organized by City Montessori School, Rajajpuram Campus I on the second day of the festival. The second day of Global TIE was enlightening and thought provoking as renowned educationists poured out their knowledge and highlighted various aspects of child education. Earlier, Mrs Watal, Convenor welcomed the guests.
The morning session began with an enlightening talk by the CMS Founder Manager, renowned educationist Dr Jagdish Gandhi on the topic ‘Social Responsibility of a Modern School’. Dr Jagdish Gandhi said that the present world scenario is a frightening one with the storm of violence and criminality among youth sweeping across continents like wild fire. In this state of affairs, the only thing which can save us is meaningful education and this can be done when we have committed and sincere teachers. Dr Gandhi said that the destiny of mankind is shaped in the classroom, the teachers are the builders of the nation and shapers of character. The future of children lies in the hands of teachers. We have to ponder on whether to prepare our children to become merely engineers, doctors or civil servants or empower them with higher goals in life by teaching them human values, making them world citizens, educating them on the ideals of World Unity and World Peace and inspiring them to use their knowledge  for Service to Mankind. All this is possible only through honest and devoted teachers. On this occasion, Ms Susmita Basu, Head, CMS Quality Assurance and Innovation Department outlined the aims of the CMS Innovation Wing and explained the unique pattern of CMS education.
Mr Augustine Velaith, former Communication Specialist, UNESCO, said that schools must have a harmonious and peaceful environment to nurture the children without any racial or caste prejudices. One cannot expect a child to perform his best under pressure. Children need space and understanding. They are like plants who need an open environment, love, care and nurturing so that they can express their thoughts freely. Mr  Velaith also stressed on the need to respect the Rights of Children as given in Article 29 of the UN Charter. Mr Lalit Krishna Trivedi, Principal of Sarti Devi Raja Ram Public School, Shamli said that in today’s world, a child learns as much from technology as he does from the parents and teachers. The Internet and Computers are also teaching agents for him. However it is in the guidance and love of a teacher that his abilities can best be brought out. Therefore an understanding and and loving teacher is the best thing a child can get. We must not compare two children as each child is unique and different.
Mr Kazi Mohammed Siddique Haseeb, Principal of Modern International School, Al Hasa, Saudi Arabia said that many times, the teachers today, are forced to work under pressure and this is not a good thing. Teachers should be given freedom and care should be taken to see that they are well looked after in a good working environment. Only when teachers’ interests are safe-guarded can they give the best education to the children.
Mr Srinaranan Palat Chirakkara, Principal of Poddar International School, Ahmedabad was full of praise for the value-based education of CMS and said that such international conferences provide us a global forum to address the problems faced by children and safeguard their interests, thus uplifting the standard of education.
