CMS students take out huge World Unity March giving the call ‘No More Hiroshima, No More Nagasaki’

world-unity-march1Thousands of students of City Montessori School took out a huge ‘World Unity March’ here today spreading the message in the whole world that this world can be made secure and safe not by nuclear weapons but with the binding thread of World Unity. Giving a clarion call ‘No More Hiroshima, No More Nagasaki’, around 5000 CMS students marched ahead from Purani Chungi, Kanpur Road towards CMS Kanpur Road auditorium rasing a fervent and touching appeal and reminding everyone of the Hiroshima tragedy when USA dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki cities in Japan on 6 and 8 August respectively. This year, the Hiroshima March assumed special significance as two young students from Hiroshima, Japan namely Ms Rena Sasaki and Mr Masato Nakamichi led the March with Mr Roshan Gandhi Forouhi from the UK and the CMS Founders Dr Jagdish Gandhi and Dr (Mrs) Bharti Gandhi. On this occasion, the District Inspector of Schools, Mr Umesh Tripathi was present as Chief Guest and he flagged off the March. Principals of various CMS campuses were also present in the forefront leading the March.
Through the World Unity March, CMS students appealed to the Heads of State of all nations to take decisive steps and make the earth free of nuclear, biological and chemical weapons and thus safeguard the future of two billion children of the world as well as generations yet to be born. On reaching CMS Kanpur Road, this huge World Unity March was converted into a big Rally wherein the eminent personalities and the CMS Founder-Manager, Apostle of World unity, Dr Jagdish Gandhi addressed the students.
On this occasion, the Chief Guest, Mr Umesh Tripathi, District Inspector of Schools, while addressing the vast gathering praised CMS efforts which he said, would go a long way in bring unity and peace in the chaotic world of today. The amazing way in which CMS students had represented the various religions - Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Christian, Buddhism and Bahai at this Unity March was a wonderful sight to behold. Mr Tripathi aid that we still shiver in fear and terror at the very thought of the black tragedy of Hiroshima but still the nations are continuing their race for arms and nuclear weapons. Therefore this March has a special significance of arousing awareness and raising a voice for nuclear disarmament among nations.
Renowned educationist and CMS Founder, Dr Jagdish Gandhi, an ardent supporter of World Unity and said on this occasion that the day of 6th August is especially important in human history. It was on this very day 66 years ago in 1945 that thousands of people perished in the Hiroshima bomb tragedy. Every year, people gather together in different parts of the world and listen to accounts of this terrible tragedy and express their grief but even then they do not take steps to prevent such tragedies in future. Dr Gandhi further stated that City Montessori School, Lucknow is making continuous efforts to establish World Unity and World Peace and we are immensely happy that our cause is being recognized and we are now getting support for it from all corners of the globe.
Dr Gandhi stressed that the bomb used to attack Hiroshima was only a sample of the even more deadly bombs ready to destroy the whole of the earth. He said that today we are standing on the verge of a decisive moment and we can not afford to the remain mute spectators to the increasing situations of war and terrorisms. We will have to come forward and put in every possible effort to contribute our bit in initiating a positive change.
Prior to this, the huge World Unity March taken out by students of CMS garnered great appreciation and support of the public assembled along both sides of the road. Carrying placards with slogans on World Unity and World Peace, the students made demands for a one world. ‘Heads of State, please stop this tussle for nuclear weapons in the interest of the children’, ‘We want peace and unity in the world’, ‘The time has come for a One legal system’, ‘World Government is the last hope for the world’s children’, ‘Enforceable International Law is the idea whose time has come’, ‘Leaders of the world, give us the right to a safe future’, are some of the slogans these children carried in their placards to make their appeal reach the leaders of the world. In this World Unity March while on one hand the students dressed as followers of different religions carried the message of the unity of religions, on the other hand students of various CMS campuses wearing the robes of Chief Justices and World Citizens, and carrying globes and flags of 200 countries in their hands called for a safe future of the world’s children.
Chief Public Relations Officer of CMS, Mr Hari Om Sharma informed that CMS tries to awaken the masses by carrying out such public awareness campaigns from tome to time. CMS believes that world unity can be established only by binding the entire world with a cord of international law and justice which can only be established with the creating of an international legal system, World Parliament and World Government aimed at securing the future of world’s children and generations yet to be born.
Mr Sharma informed that today the students, teachers and staff of CMS celebrated the birthday of CMS Founder-Director Dr (Mrs) Bharti Gandhi with great fanfare and prayed for her long life. With Dr Bharti Gandhi’s committed efforts and dedication, CMS has reached great heights, having today been recognized as the world’s largest school with over 44,000 students and 2000 teaching and non-teaching staff and it is now being recognized the world over as a pioneer in the task of creating an environment of World Unity and World Peace besides contributing in the overall development of the children
