City Montessori School, Rajendra Nagar (Campus III) is organizing a 4-day International Youth Festival for History and Civics ‘Reflections-2011′ at CMS Kanpur Road auditorium from 11 to 14 August. Over 400 students from Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Nepal and various states of India are arriving here at Lucknow to participate in this festival. This information was given by the Principal of CMS Rajendra Nagar (Campus III) and Convenor of Reflections-2011 at a press conference held here today. Dr Tripathi said that the students of various countries will not only get an opportunity, at this festival, to test their abilities in history and civics, but they will also be able to exchange their thoughts and ideas and learn about the culture and civilization of various countries.
Addressing the press reporters, Dr Tripathi said that the new generation must shoulder the responsibility of giving a new direction to humanity and therefore, it is essential that students of different countries must assemble on a common platform and express their thoughts fearlessly. Inspired by these thoughts, CMS is organizing this International Festival of History and Civics in this historic city, Lucknow. She opined that history is a subject which flows relentlessly onward with no beginning or end. Since time immemorial to the present day, man has been slowly but surely evolving and progressing to a superior human being and this progress will continue in future also. Every moment, history is being made. The important thing is that the history, if it is tragic, must not repeat itself. Through meaningful education, we must lay the foundation for a new Divine Civilization based on World Unity and World Peace, she said.
Regarding various contests to be held during ‘Reflections-2011′, Dr Tripathi said that the contests are so interesting that the students of India and abroad will feel excited to participate in them and they will be inclined towards History and Civics. She informed that the competitions of ‘Reflections-2011′ comprise Antony’s Rhetorics (elocution contest), Vintage (poster designing contest), Pablo’s Panorama (collage contest), Chanakya (quiz contest), Pixar’s Disciples (multimedia presentation), Odyssey (choreography contest), La Musique (jingles music contest), King Arthur’s Round Table (group discussion), Socrates Speaketh (speech contest) and Papyrus creations (creative writing) etc. These competitions will not only improve the knowledge of students rather they will come to know the culture and traditions of each other, she said. Dr Tripathi said that the competitions of Reflections-2011 are prepared to chisel the latest talents of students. Each contest is like a challenge quite helpful in developing the confidence of students and as an encouragement to them for accepting any challenge with a smile. The distinguished experts in various fields will be the judges of the events.
On this occasion, CMS Founder and renowned educationist, Dr Jagdish Gandhi said that this mega event will bring about revolutionary change in the mindset of the youth and children. When these children study the conditions and way of life as well as the problems of bygone age, they will also learn to appreciate the problems of today and tomorrow. It is these children who will be the leaders of tomorrow and the shapers of the future of mankind. Dr Gandhi explained than in ancient times man lived in caves, hunted for food and gradually he started farming and cultivation. Civilizations grew up on the banks of rivers and villages, towns, cities and states evolved Then nations were formed. As man’s thinking widened, his problems also grew bigger. Now the time has come to unite the world because mankind’s problems can no longer be solved by national governments alone. A world governing body is the need of the hour and this must be seriously set up. Dr Gandhi expressed the view that these young historians and world citizens are gathering here for this festival with great expectations and powerful ideas. It is they who will lay the foundation for a New World Order with their refined and world embracing thoughts.
