CMS team leaves for USA to attend ‘Geography World Championship’

usa-team1A seven-member team comprising City Montessori School, Station Road campus student Nimesh Saxena and two other students along with CMS educators left for USA to represent India in ‘National Geography World Championship-2011′. The final round of this championship will be held in San Francisco, USA from 23 to 28 July in which talented students shortlisted from across the globe will be participating. This information has come from Mr Hari Om Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer of CMS. Mr Sharma informed that Nimesh Saxena of CMS Station Road campus, Mayank Kumar of Lucknow Public Inter College and Siddhartha Yaddanapudi of Yadavindra Public School, Mohali are representing India in this significant competition. Mrs Aruna Gupta, Principal, CMS Station Road campus, Mrs Prema Subramaniam, Principal, CMS Mahanagar (Campus III), Ms Manjit Batra, Principal, CMS Gomti Nagar and Ms Susmita Basu, Head, Quality Assurance and Innovation Dept. of CMS also left for USA along with the students.

Mr Sharma said that the students, teachers and parents bid farewell to the team with floral garlands at the Charbagh Railway Station and gave them best wishes to return with laurels to the institution. On this occasion, Founder of CMS and renowned educationist Dr Jagdish Gandhi, President of CMS, Prof. Geeta Gandhi Kingdon and the Honorary Advisor of CMS Dr Sunita Gandhi were also present.

Mr Sharma further informed that this gem of CMS Station Road, Nimesh Saxena was recently awarded a cheque worth Rs 20,000 by Mr P D Gupta, President Rotary Club at a function for his selection in the final round. Nimesh was selected on district, state and national level after going through rigorous competitions before being chosen for international level competition. Nimesh accredited the excellent academic atmosphere, his experienced and expert teachers and the blessings of his parents.

Mr Sharma informed that this international level Geography competition is organized with the aim to encourage the young generation from around the world to go for research and innovation in this subject. The participating students of various nations grab the opportunity to know about the shape, land, atmosphere, season, earthquake, tsunami, volcano, global temperature, ozone layer and increasing desert through the competition. The Association of Geography Teachers of India organized this competition here on national level. CMS recognizes the scientific needs of modern age and tried hard to teach its students with global perspective and scientifically that help CMS students create new heights in various national and international level competitions, Mr Sharma said.
