Owing to her pre-scheduled programmes, Ms. Mayawati ji could not come to attend the programme. She sent Mr. Swami Prasad Maurya, State Panchayati Raj Minister to represent her and congratulate the residents of Ghaziabad. The project, costing Rs. 280 crore, is fully financed by Ghaziabad Development Authority.
Mr. Swami Prasad Maurya, on the occasion, said that it was the top priority of the Hon’ble Chief Minister ji to implement projects in the interests of deprived sections of the society by adopting the policy of ‘Sarvajan Hitai, Sarvajan Sukhai’. It is a result of Hon’ble Chief Minister ji’s efficient leadership and her foresight that this project has been translated into reality with the joint efforts of GDA and DMRC. It is a historic step for the development of this area. He said that he was feeling elated as the Hon’ble Chief Minister ji had chosen him to represent her at such an important programme.
The project is another milestone of all round development taking place within the State under the leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister ji. This project would benefit daily commuters, women, students, office-going people, labourers, traders etc. Besides, the tourists would also be benefited by it. Now, after Noida, another important city of Uttar Pradesh viz. Ghaziabad would also be connected with Delhi through the Metro Network.
About 60000 passengers would travel from proposed Vaishali and Kaushambi Metro stations everyday. This project would benefit a large area of Ghaziabad including Vaishali and Kaushambi and it would boost the social and economic development of this area. The UP Government had also prepared an extension plan of Metro Rail in Noida and it had been finalised. When completed, it would provide Metro Rail service to the entire area.
Similarly, U.P. Government has given its consent for the implementation of RRTS project for high speed train from Delhi to Meerut and this traffic facility under RRTS project will be available between Delhi and Meerut in future. With the construction of RRTS high speed rail facility will be available in Ghaziabad, Modinagar, Meerut and nearby rural areas owing to which multi-dimensional development of the area would take place.
Various development works have been done with the efforts of Ghaziabad Development Authority and other departments of the State Government in Ghaziabad city during last four years, which include—broadening of roads, improvement of cross-roads, Ganga Water Supply under drinking water system, STP and construction of bridges at several places. Ghaziabad has done a great job in the direction of making the city green and about five lakh saplings have been planted during last four years. Several new parks have been developed. Besides it, efforts are being made for new roads, development of ring-road and construction of new bridge over Hinden river, which will remove the traffic problem of Ghaziabad.
Uttar Pradesh Government is also committed to remove the residential problem of the people. Under hi-tech and integrated township scheme, two hi-tech city and seven integrated city schemes are being developed on 10,000 acre of land in Ghaziabad in which nearly 12 lakh people would be resided. In these schemes, 40,000 EWS and LIG buildings, 1.5 lakh buildings of other category, schools, colleges, three fire-stations, nursing homes, hospitals and sports grounds facilities would be available.
Metro project work is in progress to connect Dilshad Garden (Delhi) to Mohan Nagar (Ghaziabad) under the second phase of the project. After coming of metro in Ghaziabad, it is also necessary to run feeder buses to connect metro from different areas, so that more and more people could be benefited by metro facility. This work will be done on priority basis.
