Delhi state BSP workers conference concludes successfully

New Delhi : 16 June 2011 :: Bahujan Samaj Party National President and the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Ms. Mayawati ji said that Congress Government of Delhi has ashamed the entire Country by encouraging and protecting corruption in Commonwealth Games and  made a set back to the honour and self-pride of the people of National Capital Delhi, which is highly condemnable.

untitled-1Addressing the workers conference of Delhi State organized here today at Talkatora Stadium by BSP, the National President of BSP said that the amount involved in Commonwealth Games could be utilised for roads, water, electricity, schools etc. by the development of bastis of the people who came from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Terming   the Congress Government of Delhi as “anti-people and anti- poor”, she said that this government was not being able to provide basic facilities of daily life in the areas of dalit, exploited, poor, labourer and lower income group people who had come to Delhi in search of employment. These people are facing step motherly treatment. Delhi Government had neither any just policy nor any clear intention in this regard. Congress led Central Government was also guilty because millions of rupees had been drowned on the name of Commonwealth Games, but no attention was paid over the development and maintenance of malin bastis, undeveloped areas and irregular colonies. This attitude of Congress Government was an injustice towards common man of Delhi, against which BSP would always struggle. She demanded the regularisation of irregular bastis with immediate effect.

Ms. Mayawati ji said though Congress Party is known as an origin of corruption in this country, but corruption amounting to millions of rupees and several scams which exposed recently had ashamed the entire country. It also maligned the image of country at international level. All this happened under the protection of Congress led Central Government, she said.

Referring to the resentment of the people especially common man in the country owing to the corruption which hammered the self pride and honour of the people, she said that this was one more blow on the interest of the people by the Congress Party Government.

Referring to the controversies regarding land acquisition, BSP Supremo said that before putting any allegation of BSP Government, Congress and BJP should look at themselves because the farmers are doing agitations in Congress ruled states Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi, Maharashtra and BJP ruled Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh on the issue of land acquisition, but nobody is concerned about farmers of these states. She said that the land of farmers was being acquired on cheaper rates.

The rate of land is Rs. 03 crore to 10 crore per acre in Delhi’s Kanjawala, Bawana and Delhi Dehat, but government of Delhi State is acquiring land at the rate of Rs. 53 lakh per acre. Similarly, farmers are agitated in the districts of Congress ruled Rajasthan – Jalaur, Badmer, Jaisalmer, Choru and Chittaud on the issue of land acquisition. Land is being acquired from farmers in Sanchaur tehsil of district Jalaur at the rate of Rs. 06.80 per sq. mt. The land of farmers had been taken in the districts of Haryana – Rohtak, Sonipat, Yamuna Nagar, Ambala and Palwal at cheaper rates and farmers felt betrayed. Similarly, farmers in the district of Baitul in BJP ruled Madhya Pradesh who were agitating for their land which had been taken for power plant were caned. Cases were registered on 100 farmers of Anup Pur district in Madhya Pradesh for their land agitation. Such types of agitations had been launched in the districts of Katni, Satna, Singrauli, Damoh and Tikamgarh on the issue of land acquisition.

The Congress party ruled at the centre and various states for the better part of the 63 years long period after independence. Therefore, it should tell the people what steps it took for the betterment of the farmers. Who stopped it from changing the 117 years old Land Acquisition Act 1894, when it was in power for such a long period. It was evident that the Congress was not changing the land acquisition policy to benefit capitalists and it was betraying the farmers continuously. She said that the BSP would exert pressure in the next monsoon session of Parliament to formulate a new national policy of land acquisition to solve this problem and if needed it would lay siege (gherao) of the Parliament.

Hon’ble Ms. Mayawati ji said that all the sections of the country had been badly affected by poverty, unemployment and skyrocketing inflation, but the Congress-led Central Government was not concerned about it and its leaders were indulging in petty politics only, while the BSP Government of Uttar Pradesh had provided relief to the people of the State through its own efforts. Lakhs of temporary and permanent employment opportunities had been provided and the tax rates had been reduced to give some relief to the people from the inflation. The woman heads of 31,00,000 very poor families of Sarvasamaj were being provided an assistance of Rs. 400 p.m. through Uttar Pradesh Mukhyamantri Mahamaya Gharib Arthik Madad Yojana. They have been provided an amount of Rs. 2400 for six months under this scheme. In future more such families would be benefited under this scheme.

Terming the hike in petrol prices effected by Congress-led Central Government as anti-people, Ms. Mayawati ji said that the BSP had already launched country-wide mass movement to oppose it. She said that it had been initiated by holding demonstrations at all 72 district HQs of Uttar Pradesh on 31 May 2011. She directed the unit in-charges of Delhi State to hold demonstrations against the anti-people policies of the Central Government.

Those who welcomed her included Central Co-ordinators, besides President of the BSP Delhi Unit Mr. Brahm Singh Vidhuri, Vice President Mr. Ramesh Kanwal, etc. Hon’ble Ms. Mayawati ji, before addressing the workers’ conference here today, held meeting with the senior office bearers of Delhi and also with the central co-ordinator separately and inquired about the activities and preparations of the party organisation there. The senior office bearers of the BSP Delhi State Unit and the central co-ordinator presented the report regarding party organisation and its preparation before the BSP National President.

Hon’ble Ms. Mayawati ji, held meetings for several hours and reviewed the functioning of party organisation in the State of Delhi. She gave directives for increasing the party base in Delhi State and strengthen the party organisation on the pattern of Uttar Pradesh. She provided immediate solutions to the problems affecting these works. She called upon the workers to make serious efforts in the Vidhan Sabha elections whenever the same were held, so that the aspirations of the people could be fulfilled like Uttar Pradesh. She said that the BSP cadre would have to make full preparations if the party had to come to power in Delhi as well.  Besides, the people of Sarvasamaj had to be associated with the BSP on the basis of the policy of ‘Sarvajan Hitai and Sarvajan Sukhai’. She said that the people were frustrated with the opposition parties especially Congress and BJP and they were looking for better alternatives. She said that they would have to work with missionary zeal and only then they could realise the dream of social change and economic emancipation dreamt by saints, gurus and great men born in dalit and OBC like Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, Chhatrapati Shahu ji Maharaj, Shri Narayana Guru, Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar and Manyawar Sri Kanshi Ram ji.
