Lucknow, November 25 : The four-day International Literary and Cultural Festival “Eureka International-2010″ began with all its grandeur at CMS Kanpur Road auditorium today. Chief Guest, Dr Dinesh Sharma, Mayor, Lucknow formally inaugurated the opening ceremony by lighting the lamp. Congregation of over 700 participating students from Sri Lanka, Nepal and various states of India presented a grand view of a small world full of values of unity and brotherhood. On this occasion, CMS students presented a colourful educational-cultural programme in honour of the participating students’ teams arrived from India and aborad and their team leaders. This programme received immense audience appreciation and sent the auditorium reverberating with incessant clappings. Guests from aborad were specially appreciative of the CMS students’ artistic talents. The programme which began with All Religions and World Peace prayer also had a mock World Parliament through which the students suggested thoughtful solutions to various global problems. Participating teams from India and abroad introduced themselves in style.
Addressing the august gathering at the inaugural ceremony of Eureka International-2010, the Chief Guest, Dr Dinesh Sharma, Mayor, Lucknow said that culture teaches etiquettes to the man and helps in his moral development. Time has come to unite the children of the world on a common platform and arouse in them the desire to polish their talents for the benefit of the human race. Music, dance and art are powerful mediums of self-expression and can bind the children with their emotional appeal and call of World Unity. They also help to enhance creative talent in children and give them the much needed self-confidence in life. He congratulated the Principal of CMS Anand Nagar and convenor of Eureka International-2010, Mrs. Abha Anant for taking the initiative to organize this festival.
Earlier, the participating students from Sri Lanka, Nepal and various states of India met the media persons in the afternoon and spoke freely about their feelings on arrival here. Expressing their views at the press conference, the students arrived from Isipathania College, Sri Lanka said that here we find the atmosphere similar to our homes and our happiness and enthusiasm doubled by the warm reception we received from CMS students and teachers. The students of Colombo City College, Sri Lanka said that we get an opportunity to express our artistic calibre using pen and our art during Eureka International besides showing our determination for brotherhood and unity through drawings, dramas and music. The students of Malpi International School, Nepal said with great earnestness that they would make several friends in India . They have come here with the message of unity and peace. They showed their willingness to visit Taj Mahal, Imambara and other historical places. Similarly, the students arrived from various states of India said that Eureka is an international forum through which they wish to spread the message of ‘World Unity’ throughout the world. Small children arrived here Lucknow to partake in ‘Eureka International-2010′ were bulging with enthusiasm to showcase their talents.
Mrs Abha Anant, Principal, CMS Anand Nagar and convenor of Eureka International-2010 highlighted the objectives of this international festival as it provides ample opportunity to bring out the latent talents of students and also propagate the feelings of Vasudhaiv Kutumbkam. She emphatically said that this event will develop the all round talents of younger generation and also help in enhancing their humanistic and spiritual outlook besides inculcating traits for environment consciousness in them. To actualize the dream of world unity and world peace it’s necessary that younger generation knows the culture and literature of different nations, because it is the only way to propagate the values of world unity and peace throughout the world, she said. Founder of CMS and renowned educationist Dr Jagdish Gandhi said that this international festival will not only be an amazing amalgamation of knowledge and art but will be the best stage for the exchange of thoughts for the younger generation. Dr Gandhi further said that CMS is endeavouring its level best not only to develop global outlook in its own students but in the students of other nations as well so that they become world leaders when grown up. He expressed hope that the students came to partake in Eureka International will be showing their best artistic capability and talent and will sing the song of world unity with one another.
Chief Public Relations Officer of CMS, Mr Hari Om Sharma informed that the competitions of Eureka International-2010 will begin at 9.30 am tomorrow morning and will conclude on 28th November with a grand prize distribution ceremony. Tomorrow’s competitions include Pop Art Collage, Radio Playwriting, Footloose, Page to State and presentation by primary students on ‘Water Conservation’. Mr Sharma said that in these interesting contests, participants from India and abroad will not only exhibit their excellence in science but also promote world unity, world peace and world brotherhood.
